Core i5 was produced by Intel Corporations and introduced in the market during the first quarter of 2011. It was released to replace the older core i3. While the older i3 came as 2 core processor, the new i5 processor came with 4 cores. Number of threads in this processor is 4. The 2.8GHz clock speed is surely enough for anyone to complete its task. Maximum turbo frequency for this processor is 3.1GHz, while the Cache is of 6MB.
The previous i3 could support memory as much as 16GB, but i5 came into the market with memory supporting quality as much as 32GB. It ensures the faster speed and the better performance by processor. It has 2 memory channels with maximum battery bandwidth of 21 GB/s. One thing is important to note that it cannot support ECC memory. It uses 2000 Intel Graphics for processing graphics.
In the section of advanced technologies, the processor supports following technologies including virtualization technology, thermal monitoring technology, execute disable bit technology, fast memory access, flex memory access and enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology.
